About Remembering Our Stories
The Stories We Carry
This photograph of my great-grandmother, Dorothy Beck Bowman, was taken by my father many years ago. It reminds me that behind every photograph is a lifetime of experiences, relationships, challenges, accomplishments, and memories that helped shape the people and families around them.
Too often, these stories are shared only in passing—or not at all. Yet the lessons learned, traditions created, and moments experienced by one generation become part of the foundation for the next.
Remembering Our Stories was created to help capture those conversations while there is still time to ask, listen, reflect, and learn. Every person carries a story worth sharing, and every family benefits when those stories are passed on.
Inside the Workbook
The Remembering Our Stories workbook is designed to spark meaningful conversation and reflection
Inside the workbook you will find:
• Five guided reflection themes designed to help uncover memories and life experiences
• Thoughtful conversation prompts that encourage storytelling and connection
• Topics exploring childhood, friendships, work, faith, traditions, and life lessons
• Gentle questions that can be shared in relaxed visits, family gatherings or senior community settings
• Flexible space to write down memories, reflections, and stories if desired
• Extra pages for recording additional thoughts, recipes, sayings, or family history
The workbook is not meant to be completed quickly. Instead, it invites families to slow down, listen, and preserve the stories that make a life meaningful.

The most meaningful stories are often the ones we never think to ask about—until it's too late. "Remembering Our Stories" is a practical and heartfelt guide to discovering, preserving, and honoring the stories of the generations who came before us.
Through thoughtful guidance and meaningful conversation, this book encourages readers to slow down, ask questions, listen with intention, and uncover the experiences, memories, and wisdom that shape a family's history.
